April News at The Groom Room

Dogs of the Month

This is a fine young 18 month old Italian Spinone. His top coat grows in 3 stages. New, mature and dead hair. We carefully "hand stripped" the dead hair out, it comes out willingly, just a few hairs at a time. It takes a lot of time and skill to get an even finish to the coat, but the end result is stunning! Finally a special, fine brush is used to remove any loose undercoat.

'Tis the Season for Ticks...

Tis the Season for Ticks

Once upon a time Ticks were localised to very rural areas of GB, but now they can be found in most areas of Britain, and this includes Cheshire. It's important that we remove ticks from our dogs (and ourselves!) because they can carry Lyme Disease which affects dogs and people alike. As our dogs enjoy a rummage in the Cheshire countryside they can't help but pick up ticks from greenery in the undergrowth. Don't panic though, some of the monthly 'spot-on' treatments used to prevent fleas also cover your dog for ticks. And if you do find a tick on your dog there is a specific way to remove it - it is important that every last bit of the tick is removed to prevent infection. Just ask a good groomer to remove it for you, or your vet can do the same.

We Specialise in Nervous and Elderly Dogs

Some Grooming Parlours can be busy and noisy, which we feel is not conducive to a relaxed pamper for your beloved pooch.

Here at The Groom Room we specialise in giving your dog a lovely time throughout their visit, and we provide the right atmosphere whether your canine companion is young, old, excitable or shy. It is really important to us that they feel at home in our spacious, relaxed salon, so they are happy to visit us every time they are in need of our attention.
