April News at The Groom Room

Dog of the Month

Meet Jock! He is a 5 month old Scottie, and today was his first ever visit to a grooming salon. His mum and dad were over the moon as their 'hairy pup' was transformed in to a smart young Scottie-dog!

Puppies are very bouncy and inquisitive, and not inclined to stand still for long; so at The Groom Room we have great success grooming puppies with two groomers, one massages and distracts the puppy while the second works to brush and trim. It works a treat! and the puppy has a great "first grooming experience". What a handsome lad you are Jock!

CRUFTS 2014 - How were you inspired?

CRUFTS 2014 - How were you inspired?

For example did you see the Agility at CRUFTS?

It's a really fun sport that you can do with almost any breed of dog! You don't have to do it competitively, it's great fun to simply join your local pet club and have a go! You will build a special bond with your dog because you are doing something together and your dog loves it because it's such great fun. You get to make new friends too Just search on line for Pet Agility, you won't look back! ☺

Or perhaps you would love to capture some fantastic photographs of your dogs, but don't know how?

This fabulous photo was taken for The Groom Room by Andy Biggar Pet Photographer, before he turned professional.

At CRUFTS this year this picture of our collies was featured when Claire Balding interviewed Andy Biggar about his photography career which started with his passion for photographing pets.

Andy emphasised that you don't have to have a fancy camara, in fact smart phones take some amazing photos! The key is to get right down to your pets level and take lots of shots so you can select the best afterwards!

>And how about learning to groom dogs yourself?

And how about learning to groom dogs yourself?

You may have seen some of the best groomers showing what they can do at CRUFTS, but you don't have to partake in grooming competitions if you don't want to...

Perhaps you would like a change of career and have a passion to work with dogs? Or maybe you would just like to be able to keep your own dog clean and tidy?

What ever your interest is in grooming, if you would like to learn more about it, contact Rachel at The Groom Room for a chat. If you get the chance then come to the salon to get a true feel for what it's all about...

One lady, Rachel Voss, did just that! She took a grooming course with The Groom Room Training Academy in 2013, and a year later she took the practical module of the City & Guilds Level Three Introductory Exam at a C&G registered centre. She passed with flying colours! Here she is pictured left using her new found skills in a very challenging situation - a Springer Spaniel who doesn't stand up!

Well done Rachel, you put all your passion into learning to groom, and now you are building a high quality grooming business in Congleton. We wish you every success, you deserve it!
