June News at The Groom Room

Dog of the Month
This is no ordinary Newfoundland, she is four years old but this is her first visit to a grooming salon. At first she was very stressed at this new situation which she had never encountered before. Slowly and gradually we enabled her to get used to being bathed and brushed, and as you can see from this picture, she had completely relaxed by the time we had finished, and had a big cuddle on the floor!
NOW THAT is why working as a dog groomer is so very satisfying ☺☺☺
It's Spring and the time for a big moult!

Take a look at this handsome German Shepherd Dog, he was getting hot and bothered with an excess of old undercoat, which was ready for a major groom out. You can see how much hair The Groom Room has removed... and that's not all of it! He felt so much better when he left the salon, especially as we also freed up all the hair which had matted together in those hard to brush places, like around his ears, chest, tummy and legs.
Now that's a Clever Collie!

Meet Gin the border Collie, she would say "hi!" but she is actually a bit busy at the moment, pawing over the emails on her I-PAD, or as she likes to call it her PAW-PAD.
Check out the dexterity with which she swipes the screen to see what messages all her pals have sent her!
It's just out of the picture, but I think there is a Tonic on the coffee table next to her, this Gin certainly knows how to kick back and relax!
Calling all canine hay fever sufferers...
There's no need to suffer sore, itchy skin or snuffly noses - Hay fever is really common in dogs just as it is in people. If you have noticed your dog scratching or paw licking / chewing, or with a runny nose, speak to your vet about chlorphenamine maleate, sold as Piriton or other generic products. It is really heartening to see how much it can help our dogs get through the spring and summer when pollen levels can be very high.
